Tattoo
Stages of Healing
Day 1 - 2
The tattoo may be swollen, painful and tender to the touch. Tattoo ink will "bleed", or look fuzzy around the edges under protective film. This is normal. Ink, blood, and plasma are being pushed out of skin, which is part of the healing process.
Day 3-4
The tattoo may start to itch and peel. Don't scratch or pick at the scabs, let them fall off naturally. Gently wash with mild soap and warm water.
Day 5-7
The tattoo may start to lighten and the surrounding skin may become dry and flaky. Apply unscented lotion or moisturizer to keep the area moisturized.
Day 8-14
The tattoo may be fully healed, but it may still be tender. Continue to avoid exposure to the sun, standing water and chemicals in general.
